Germany Prepares for EU Code Week 2026: Many Opportunities for Schools and Teachers

As preparations for EU Code Week 2026 gain momentum across Europe, Code Week Germany is once again offering a range of initiatives designed to support schools and educators before and during the campaign.
Building on the success of 2025, the German team continues to focus on empowering teachers and making digital education accessible to a wider range of learners.
A key element of this year’s programme is professional development for educators. Through the Code Week Starters webinar series, which begins in mid-September, teachers can explore the recently introduced EU-OECD AI Literacy Framework and gain practical insights into topics such as machine learning, bias, generative AI, responsible AI use and the development of AI-based applications.
Another cornerstone of the German programme is the Code Week Timetable (Code Week Stundenplan), which will run throughout EU Code Week from 5 to 22 October 2026. The initiative connects school classes with experts through free live online workshops on coding, creative technologies, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and other future-oriented topics. By lowering organisational barriers for schools, the format makes it easy for teachers to integrate Code Week activities directly into regular classroom practice. It also offers an accessible entry point for educators who are new to coding and digital education, allowing them to learn together with their students and gain confidence for future activities.
To help both new and experienced participants prepare for October, Code Week Germany will also host the online session “How-to Code Week for Schools” on 31 August 2026. The event introduces teachers to available resources, activity formats and practical approaches for organising their own Code Week initiatives. Participants will receive inspiration for projects, learn about support opportunities and connect with other educators interested in digital education.
Together, these offers reflect a broader objective shared by many national Code Week communities: supporting educators, strengthening digital skills and creating opportunities for young people to engage creatively with technology.
