Girls in Digital Week 2026: thank you for inspiring the next generation (23–27 March)

07/04/26

Girls in Digital Week 2026 has wrapped, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part across Europe from 23–27 March 2026. From classrooms and coding clubs to community centres and science hubs, you helped create welcoming spaces where girls could explore coding, creativity and digital confidence.

Whether you organised a Girls Code It Better (GCIB) Sprint, hosted a workshop, invited role models to speak, or shared stories online, your support makes a real difference. Together, we are helping more girls see themselves not only as digital users, but as digital creators.

Across Europe, girls were already coding their future

One of the best parts of Girls in Digital Week is seeing how different communities bring the campaign to life in their own way. In Latvia, Girls in Digital Week was already in full swing in Ventspils, where girls came together at Science Centre VIZIUM for “Girls code: girls in programming”, exploring coding, creative problem-solving, and hearing from women working in IT.

Elsewhere, communities were also creating practical, confidence-building moments for girls to explore tech. In Luxembourg, Girls in Digital Week brought people together to talk openly about the gender gap in tech and highlight local action — from hands-on learning opportunities to role models and initiatives helping girls feel they belong in digital. If you would like a quick snapshot of what happened there, read: Closing the gender gap in tech (Luxembourg).

Meet the role models: stories that sparked confidence and curiosity

Throughout the week, we shared interviews with women working across different corners of the digital world. Their stories have a common thread: you do not need to “fit” a certain mould to belong in tech. You just need curiosity, support, and a place to start.

Anny Tubbs reminds us that digital skills are not only for coders. From law and corporate leadership to multimedia production, Anny’s journey shows how technology can amplify what you already love doing — from storytelling and creativity to education and social impact.

Līna Livdāne brings the world of data science down to earth, showing how coding can be a powerful way to explore patterns, solve real problems and ask better questions. Her message is simple: start small, keep going, and let curiosity lead.

Krist Fama speaks directly to something many girls experience: confidence. Her story highlights how the right encouragement, supportive learning environments and hands-on practice can turn “I can’t” into “I can”.

Spotlight on Italy: CERCATRICI brings women researchers into the classroom

In Italy, Girls in Digital Week took on a distinctive format through CERCATRICI — a series where women researchers from Fondazione LINKS connect with students to share their passion for digital work and guide creative classroom activities. It is a fantastic “find out what happened” story, and a brilliant example of how role models and curiosity-driven learning can go hand in hand.

Resources are still available (and you can take part all year round)

Girls in Digital is not just one week in the calendar. You can organise activities throughout the year, and the full campaign page and resources remain available here:
