Code Week Germany: Educators Explore making and Future-Oriented Learning at the Network Meeting 2026

18/09/26

From 19 to 20 June 2026, 25 educators from across Germany gathered at the Future Space Kassel for the Code Week Network Meeting 2026. The participants included current German Code Week Leading Teachers and educators interested in becoming a Leading Teacher or in engaging more closely with the Code Week community. Together, they explored how making can foster creativity, problem-solving, collaboration and digital skills in the classroom.

Over the course of an intensive programme, participants exchanged ideas, explored innovative teaching approaches and gained hands-on experience with a wide range of making activities. From game development, 3D design and sensors to creative coding projects, artificial intelligence, sustainability and classroom making, the event showcased how diverse digital education can be.

Making as a Driver for Creativity and Innovation

A central takeaway from the event was that making is about much more than technology. By combining creativity, experimentation and practical problem-solving, making creates opportunities for learners to develop digital skills while working collaboratively on meaningful projects.

Throughout the meeting, participants explored practical examples that can be adapted for their own schools and future EU Code Week activities. The exchange of experiences and ideas helped turn inspiration into concrete classroom concepts and projects.

As preparations for EU Code Week 2026 continue, the energy and enthusiasm from the network meeting demonstrate the important role educators play in inspiring young people to engage with technology, creativity and future skills.

A special thank you goes to all participants and especially the German Code Week Leading Teachers for their support in shaping and preparing the programme, as well as for sharing their expertise and experiences. We also thank Future Space Kassel team for hosting the event and providing an inspiring environment for learning and exchange.

The German Code Week community looks forward to seeing how the ideas developed during the network meeting will find their way into classrooms and activities during EU Code Week 2026 and beyond.
