Günstige Staubsaugerroboter halten derzeit Einzug in zahlreiche Haushalte. Die eingesetzte Technik ist hierbei allerdings überschaubar und eignet sich als Schülerprojekt. Das Wegsaugen von Müll durch den Roboter sorgt aber nicht nicht nur für eine saubere und wohlfühlende Umgebung, sondern ist eine Art algorithmischer Beitrag zum Umwelt. bzw. Klimaschutz.

Schüler der Jahrgangsstufe 5-11 finden sich in Gruppen zusammen und entwickeln ein Konzept zur Umsetzung einer Robotikhand mit einer Elektroniksteuerung für die mechanische Bewegung der Finger. Je nach Programmierkenntnissen sollen die Fingerglieder über Motoren bewegt werden, die mithilfe von programmierbaren Bausteinen wie dem Calliope Mini oder einem Arduino Uno angesteuert werden. Die verschiedenen Konzepte sollen im Laufe des Tages umgesetzt werden und am Ende entscheidet eine Jury über die funktionalste und stylischste Umsetzung.
