1. Learning Objectives

Emotional Intelligence: Recognize, express, and categorize basic emotions.
Computational Thinking: Understand the fundamental programming concept of Conditionals (If/Then rules).
Algorithmic Logic: Sequence actions to create a specific pattern.
Collaboration: Work asynchronously with partner schools to encode and decode secret messages.

2. Materials Needed

Unplugged: Body percussion (clapping, stomping), simple classroom musical instruments (tambourines, drums, xylophones), printed flashcards of basic emotions (Happy, Sad, Angry, Scared).
Tech (Optional): A tablet or smartphone for recording the audio/video, or a simple music-making app.

3. Step-by-Step Implementation

Step A: Establishing the Code (The "If/Then" Rules)

All partner schools must agree on a universal "Sound Code" that links an emotion to a specific action. You can use the following table or create your own with your students:

Emotion Condition (IF) Sound Action / Output (THEN) IF a child feels Happy THEN clap hands 2 times IF a child feels Sad THEN slide hands slowly on the desk IF a child feels Angry THEN stomp feet 2 times IF a child feels Scared THEN shake the tambourine once

Step B: Encoding the Message (School A)

The teacher secretly selects a sequence of 3 to 4 emotions (e.g., Happy ➔ Scared ➔ Happy).
The students work together to translate this sequence into the agreed sound algorithm (e.g., Clap, Clap ➔ Tambourine ➔ Clap, Clap).
The class performs the sound sequence. The teacher records the audio or a short video (focusing on the instruments/hands, if privacy rules apply) and uploads it to the TwinSpace forum.

Step C: Decoding the Message (School B)

The partner school plays the received audio/video to their class.
The students listen carefully to the pattern and work as "debuggers" to decode the message.
They place the corresponding emotion flashcards on the floor in the correct sequence to reveal the hidden feelings of their partners.

Step D: Collaborative Loop

After successfully decoding the message, School B takes the lead. They create a brand new secret sound pattern, record it, and challenge School A (or School C) to decode it, creating an interactive coding chain.
