17/03/26

On March 11th, the digital stage lit up as the EU Code Week Hackathons Finals reached an inspiring and highly anticipated conclusion. After three months of intense national competitions, learning, and collaboration, the brightest young minds in Europe gathered to showcase their vision for the future.

Spanning across Italy, Greece, Croatia, Turkey, Ukraine, Lithuania, France, and Spain, this event was a true celebration of innovation, teamwork, and the power of technology to drive meaningful change.

Bridging Digital Skills and Social Impact

The theme for this edition was “From Code to Community: Bridging Digital Skills and Social Impact.” We challenged participants not just to write code, but to identify pressing issues within their communities and develop tangible, tech-driven solutions to solve them.

The goal was to show that digital literacy goes far beyond programming—it is the ultimate tool for social change. By merging technical skills with social awareness, these young innovators proved that they are ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.

By the Numbers: A Growing Digital Movement

The sheer scale of this year’s hackathon highlights a growing enthusiasm for STEM and digital problem-solving among European youth. Here is a look at the impact of this journey:

  • Nearly 600 Young Innovators: Students between the ages of 15 and 19 dedicated their time and energy to the national competitions over the last three months.

  • 9 Finalist Teams: The top teams from the national rounds earned the prestigious opportunity to pitch their finalized solutions live on the European stage.

  • A Truly Global Audience: During the live finals, around 300 attendees from 18 different countries tuned in to witness the brilliance of these young minds unfold in real-time.
