6 May 2026 | 15:30 CEST | Online (MS Teams)
How can we better connect secondary school students with opportunities in ICT and STEM? How can higher education institutions inspire the next generation to explore digital careers?
The Discover Digital Programme (DDP) offers a practical answer — and this upcoming online event will show exactly how it works.
This 90-minute session will introduce the DDP toolkit, a flexible and scalable framework designed to help higher education institutions engage young people with digital pathways, strengthen outreach activities, and build stronger connections between schools and universities.
What is the Discover Digital Programme?
The Discover Digital Programme is designed to support higher education institutions in reaching secondary school students and introducing them to ICT and STEM opportunities in a meaningful and engaging way.
At its core is a practical toolkit that provides guidance, frameworks, and ready-to-use approaches for outreach activities that can be adapted across different countries and education systems.
Whether through campus visits, school sessions, or digital career workshops, the programme helps institutions inspire students to explore their future in tech.
What to expect from the event
This session will go beyond theory and focus on practical, actionable approaches. Participants will gain insights into how to design, implement, and scale outreach activities that make a real impact.
- Introduction to the DDP toolkit and its practical applications
- Examples of outreach formats such as STEM On Tour (HEI visits to schools) and STEM In (student visits to campuses)
- Insights from focus group discussions and key takeaways
- Guidance on adapting and scaling activities in local contexts
Who should attend?
This event is designed for a wide range of stakeholders working to support digital skills development across Europe:
- Higher education institutions looking to strengthen outreach and student recruitment
- Teachers, school leaders, and guidance counsellors supporting students in their future choices
- EU Code Week National Hubs coordinating local initiatives and partnerships
- Anyone interested in strengthening Europe’s digital talent pipeline
Why it matters
Building a strong digital future for Europe starts with early engagement. By connecting students with real opportunities in ICT and STEM, we can help them make informed choices, discover new interests, and see themselves in digital careers.
The Discover Digital Programme supports this by providing a transferable, inclusive, and scalable approach that can be adopted across institutions and countries.
It also places a strong emphasis on broadening participation, particularly among underrepresented groups, including girls — aligning closely with the goals of EU Code Week.
