Sinéad McCarron
I am the Project Manager of Skema at the Open University of Reykjavík, where I lead the development of innovative programming and creative technology education for young learners. My work brings together more than two decades of experience in design, education, and innovation management. Before stepping into this role, I spent 10 years building and leading STEAM and robotics education as a teacher, where I designed interdisciplinary programs integrating design thinking, digital fabrication, coding, and robotics. Under my mentorship, student teams achieved national recognition in LEGO Robotics and innovation competitions, and in 2023 I was honored as Iceland’s Innovation Teacher of the Year by the University of Iceland’s School of Education. Across all my roles, I focus on building learning environments where design thinking, inclusion design principles, and innovation intersect, ensuring that technology education empowers young people not only to build solutions, but to shape a more thoughtful future.
