Nowadays all STEM topics are extremely important and necessary, especially Technology. Programming is playing a particularly significant role in developing students’ fluency in the essential 21st century skills, which are needed for a rewarding career in the future. Despite the high level of growth in computer science, women are still highly underrepresented in the field of IT, and the gap between men and women entering computer science careers continues to widen. So, this event will help to involve all students, especially girls, in programming and will encourage them to gain new knowledge in this branch. Every day we will share the experience of successful people who work in the field of IT, and show the results of students in this topic. Besides this, we will learn how to program with the use of Scratch, CodeMonkey, code.org., Python. All these activities are designed for students of 9-11 grades, because they understand what professions will be demanded in the future. Monday – organizing a Skype meeting with a programmer from Lviv, who was a graduate of our gymnasia. Tuesday – presentation of projects that were created on summer robotics camp organized by a Peace Corp Volunteer – Jason Jozwiak. During this event, children will get acquainted with the Python programming language, will learn to program robots, and will get acquainted with Internet of Things. Wednesday - analyzing and explaining to the students of the code for the weather station, which was written in the programming language C ++, or rather its modified version, called Wire, in the development environment of the Arduino IDE. The meteorological station was created by Dmytro Luchyn - a student of the 10th form. Thursday – presentation of a successful experience of students Oksana Kukurudziak and Anastasiia Trakalo, who were chosen to participate in Alice Envisions the Future – Microsoft AI Bootcamp. Friday – summing up, handing of certificates, a presentation of students’ applications that have been created during the codeweek.
