If Ada can, I can
21/10/2025 - 17:00
English

What can a 19th-century mathematician teach us about the digital world of today? Quite a lot! Ada Lovelace, often recognised as the world’s first computer programmer, used creativity, curiosity, and logic to imagine the potential of computing long before computers even existed. Her story continues to inspire generations to think boldly, dream creatively, and see technology as a tool for change.

In this EU Code Week webinar, we celebrate Ada Lovelace’s legacy and connect it to the opportunities available in technology and digital innovation today. This session is designed for a broad audience — students (8+), parents, teachers, and anyone curious about the world of tech — to show that the digital world is open to everyone, regardless of background or experience.

You will:

  • — Learn about Ada Lovelace, the world's first 'complex' programmer, and why she’s considered a role model for women in tech.

  • — Here about the diversity of career opportunities and some of the pathways for young people

  • — Understand about how networking, creativity and teamwork are core attributes to innovation and for a rewarding career in digital

Through this engaging talk, participants will understand that technology is not only about coding — it’s about imagination, collaboration, and the drive to make ideas real.

Join us for an inspiring session that bridges the past and the future. If Ada could imagine a computer before it existed, what could you — or your students, children, or community — imagine today?

Staying Safe in the Digital World
23/10/2025 - 17:30
English

The digital world opens exciting opportunities for children to learn, explore, and create — but it also comes with risks. From online privacy concerns to exposure to harmful content or unsafe interactions, children can face challenges that may affect their safety and wellbeing. Parents, educators, and caregivers play a vital role in helping young people navigate these spaces with confidence and awareness.

This EU Code Week webinar is designed to equip you with practical tools and strategies to ensure children remain safe while pursuing their digital interests. Through expert insights and hands-on advice, we will explore:

  • — The main threats children face online, from privacy risks to unsafe behaviour.

  • — Simple methods for teaching children how to stay vigilant and careful.

  • — Tools and resources available to support safe digital exploration.

  • — Practical actions parents, educators, and caregivers can take daily to strengthen digital safety.

The session will combine expert presentations with interactive elements, including live polls and a Q&A, so you can share your questions and experiences. You will leave with clear, practical steps that can be applied at home, in the classroom, or in any learning environment.

By attending, you will not only gain awareness of the risks but also confidence in how to guide and protect children as they grow into responsible and empowered digital citizens.

Join us and learn how small actions can make a big difference in creating a safer digital future for children across Europe.
