Girls in Digital Week: A Celebration of Opportunity and Creativity

We are so excited to announce Girls in Digital Week—a special event that’s all about inspiring everyone to discover the exciting world of technology and digital careers! From 24–28 March 2025, this week-long celebration will shine a spotlight on inclusion, innovation, and the incredible potential that digital skills bring to people of all genders. We’ll be celebrating the incredible potential of girls in STE(A)M (science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics) and showcasing the many ways they can shine in the digital age.  

A Week to Discover, Create, and Be Inspired 

Girls in Digital Week offers something for everyone. It’s an opportunity to explore new technologies, try hands-on activities, and learn from inspiring role models who are shaping the future. Imagine creating your own projects, learning to code, and discovering just how fun and rewarding technology can be. 

Parents, this is the perfect opportunity to help your children explore the many paths that lead to successful and creative careers in STE(A)M. 

 Educators, we invite you to play an essential role in inspiring the next generation of innovators. In addition to encouraging your students to participate in exciting challenges and workshops, consider using this week as a platform to explore the ground-breaking contributions that women have made to the fields of technology and science. Highlighting these role models can provide students with a deeper understanding of the diverse perspectives that drive innovation and progress. 

Furthermore, we encourage you to organise activities that go beyond technical skills—events that foster discussion about inclusion, respect, and the importance of welcoming everyone into these fields. Activities might include classroom debates, collaborative coding sessions, or art projects that represent diverse tech leaders. By creating these spaces, you’ll not only spark curiosity but also help cultivate an environment where every student feels valued and inspired to explore their own potential in STE(A)M. 

Why This Week is Special 

This week is about creating supportive spaces where everyone can explore their talents, build confidence, and dream big. It’s about showing that the digital world is for everyone, regardless of gender, and celebrating the diversity of skills and perspectives that drive innovation. 

How You Can Join the Celebration 

• Students: Try a coding challenge, join a workshop, or just spend time exploring what you love about technology. This week is all about you! 

• Parents: Encourage your children to participate and cheer them on as they explore their talents. 

• Educators: Incorporate fun activities and resources into your lessons. Help your students reach their potential in STE(A)M fields and see how far their skills can take them.

Not sure where to begin? Start by visiting the EU Code Week site for ideas. Check out our resources section for teaching materials, tutorials, and even some fun challenges. Whether it’s coding a simple project, learning about robotics, or tackling a digital design challenge, there’s something for everyone. 

⭐ Plan Your Activity 

Once you’ve found an idea you like, think about how to make it happen. 

• Set a goal: What do you want to achieve by the end of your activity? 

• Gather your materials: Make sure you have everything you need—software, hardware, or even just paper and pens. 

• Assign roles (if needed): If you’re working as a team, decide who will handle which tasks, like hosting the event, taking photos, or sharing updates online.

Let your community know what you’re up to! Share details about your activity with friends, classmates, parents, and educators.
