Part of the Code Week initiative, EU4Moldova Startup City Cahul is launching a Hackathon for youth from the Southern region of Moldova to generate creative solutions for sustainable local good. Pupils aged 13 through 19, which are studying at least one of the Tekwill courses at school can participate in the hackathon in teams of five and develop projects with an impact for the community. The competition aims to bring awareness on current environmental issues therefore, pupils will be able to select to compete under one category out of the three available ones: 1. Waste management, sorting, recycling 2. Water pollution, wastewater usage 3. Climate change and global warming, air pollution, deforestation Created teams will be guided throughout the school year by a team of Mentors, IT specialists and environmental specialists to come up with a technical project which will be presented in front of a Jury by May 2022. Teams are expected to use the know-how and digital skills acquired during the Tekwill courses such as: Graphic Design, Web Design & Development, Mobile Apps Design & Development, Algorithms Programming in C/C++, and Artificial Intelligence. Winning teams will be awarded with prizes (digital devices) for their hard work, creative ideas, and solutions. Expected participants: • Up to 100 pupils and teachers from the 39 schools connected to the TiES program from the Southern region • Up to 5 IT specialists – Mentors • Up to 5 Environmental specialists – Mentors
