EU Code Week 2025: A Community United to Shape the Future of Digital Skills in Europe

22/09/25

Madrid, Spain, September 18 – 19, 2025

On 18 and 19th September, EU Code Week Consortium and Community met in Madrid to validate and celebrate the achievements of the first year;
10 million young people across Europe have now taken part in the initiative, gaining valuable digital and coding skills.

43 consortium partners together with the 45 community partners, edu coordinator, ambassadors and lead teachers are the ones who made this possible!

Annie Bergh, Code Week Council President To me the importance of the collaboration cannot be emphazised enough. Collaboration brings together people of all ages, from different backgrounds, countries and cultures. Through collaboration we are reaching out to more students, learn together and also from each other. Collaboration gives EU Code Week its real strength and visibility by being inclusive and welcoming.

It has been so inspiring to hear the great engagement in the ground, such as in Ukraine, where with the EU Code Week initiatives managed to recruit new teachers and ambassadors in such a short time making a real impact on youth. A series of summer schools led by ambassadors and also by Alessandro Bogliolo  ambassador of EU Code Week, involving young people in coding and digital activities in Italy has been such an inspiring practice. The community in Romania managed to build new relationship and recruit new teachers and ambassadors to significant grow their impact.

Now it is time to prepare for the new year. The EU Code Week 2025 will take place from 11 to 26 October, millions of Europeans are invited to take part in Minecraft Education play-alongs and a wide range of events, workshops, hackathons and activities that make digital and coding learning engaging and inclusive.

Denisa Boca, European Commission DG CNECT, said We appreciate all the work and passion the community and consortium have been dedicating to making EU Code Week shine throughout the years. This is very important work that helps build the foundations on algorithmic thinking and digital skills for young generations. The European Commission is happy to support this initiative, and we look forward to seeing how Code Week develops in the future.

The EU Code Week 2025 Launch Event will take place on 13 October, officially opening this year’s activities. You can register here. Participants can explore the full calendar of coding and digital activities across Europe through the official EU Code Week channels.

Salvatore Nigro, CEO of JA Europe mentionedThrough EU Code Week, we are changing the lives of millions of young people by equipping them with the skills to shape their own Europe. This consortium shows the power of collaboration, empowering youth with the digital skills they need to succeed in the future.”

Diana Filip, Deputy CEO of JA Europe highlighted, “In just one year, EU Code Week has united a vibrant community and reached millions of young people, proof of the energy and creativity waiting to be unlocked across Europe. But this is only the beginning. Our vision is bold: to give every young person the digital skills and confidence to shape their own future. We call on educators, industry leaders, policymakers, and communities everywhere to join us — especially this October during Code Week — to inspire millions more and build a truly inclusive digital Europe.”

EU Code Week is not only about coding – it is about equipping every young European with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to shape their future. By creating spaces where communities, educators, and industry could connect, the project ensures that digital and coding skills remain accessible to all.
