Easy-to-use tutorials for Animate your name activity in Scratch

For the Animate your name activity, Code Week tutorials offered by Google education are available in 22 (BG, CS, DE, DA, ET, EL, ES, FI, GA, HR, HU, FR, IT, LT, LV, NL, PL, PT, RO, SV, SK, SL) languages on our Youtube channel plus English here.
Using Scratch, students choose a name or a word, and make the letters come alive using animations, sounds and music.
This activity will take between 40-60 minutes, and can be done online or offline. However, both options require access to a computer.
To start, go to Code Week Youtube channel and watch with your students the first video from the language playlist of your choice. This should introduce the students to the basics of this activity, from how to start and what are the steps to complete it.
After watching the video, the students will go to Scratch and start creating their individual projects. The name of choice can be any name they want – their name, or whatever name or word they desire.
Bit by bit, students will go through all 13 video tutorials from the playlist, and put into practice the various ways to animate a name in Scratch, from basics such as changing colors, font size or adding sounds, to more advanced actions such as a loop, or an event.
By completing this activity, students will familiarize themselves with Scratch, and learn:
* how coding dictates the flow and direction of a program
* programming concepts such as successions, events and loops
* basic debugging by identifying their own errors
Done in Scratch, the programming principles learned from this activity can later on be applied to other programming languages such as Python or Java.
