Gathering Educators Around Innovation
On July 4–5, 2025, around 20 teachers from across Germany came together in Düsseldorf for a special Code Week network meeting. The event was organized by Code Week Germany in cooperation with Science on Stage Germany, the regional hub for German-speaking countries, and hosted at Coding for Tomorrow, an initiative dedicated to hands-on digital education for schools and educators.
The two-day program was designed to inspire, connect, and empower teachers by exploring new ways to integrate digital tools into everyday teaching.
Hands-On Learning with Digital Tools
Workshops offered participants a chance to dive into creative technologies such as virtual reality (VR), Makey Makey, 3D printing, and podcasting. Instead of focusing on theory alone, the sessions encouraged collaboration and experimentation—providing teachers with practical classroom-ready ideas to spark student engagement.
The emphasis was on making learning active and playful, showing how coding and digital creativity can become natural parts of school life.
Spotlight on Project-Based Learning
A highlight of the event was a session by Dr. Ulla Hauptmann, experienced educator and EU Code Week Leading Teacher. She introduced the concept of project-based learning, demonstrating how students can take ownership of their education through inquiry, making, and collaboration.
Dr. Hauptmann also offered insights into the Code Week movement from a teacher’s perspective, sharing examples of how schools across Europe use Code Week to bring coding, creativity, and community spirit into the classroom.
Leaving Inspired and Connected
Throughout the gathering, the atmosphere was open, curious, and collaborative. Teachers exchanged experiences, shared ideas, and built connections that extend beyond the event itself.
They left Düsseldorf with new inspiration, practical tools, and valuable contacts—ready to bring the energy of Code Week into their classrooms and empower students to become digital creators.
