A Celebration of Innovation: CityLab’s 6th STEM & Digital Skills Festival

20/06/25

The 6th edition of CityLab’s STEM & Digital Skills Festival came to a powerful close, leaving behind a trail of excitement, inspiration, and youthful ingenuity. Held at the 6th Primary School of Alimos, the festival brought together students, educators, volunteers, and innovators in a dynamic celebration of science, technology, engineering, and creativity.

A Showcase of Young Talent and Imagination

From the moment the doors opened, the energy was electric. Children of all ages presented their projects—each one a testament to hard work, curiosity, and a passion for learning. The Exhibition and Competition featured an incredible range of topics, including robotics, biomedical technologies, environmental innovations, and engineering creations.

Visitors had the chance to witness first-hand the power of hands-on education. The projects were not just technical achievements, they were stories told through circuits, sensors, and software. Every invention reflected a deeper understanding of the world and a strong desire to improve it.

Support from a Dedicated Community

Behind every team of young creators stood a network of tireless educators and mentors. These instructors played a vital role throughout the process, not only guiding students through technical challenges but also encouraging them to think critically and collaborate effectively. Their dedication transformed classrooms into workshops of wonder and possibility.

Equally vital were the volunteers, whose behind-the-scenes work ensured a seamless experience for all. Their energy and kindness contributed to the warm, inclusive atmosphere that defines the CityLab spirit.

Spotlight on Innovation: EU Code Week Hackathon Success

A defining moment of the festival was the special presentation by the Greek EU Code Week Hackathon teams. The spotlight shone especially bright on Synergy Solutions, the team behind the project “Remedy: Health made easy”. This innovative health-tech solution not only impressed the audience but also triumphed in the European finals, earning first place in the combined vote of both jury and public. Their success underscored the extraordinary potential of youth-led innovation in solving real-world challenges.

Community Support and Local Leadership

The festival would not have been possible without the generous support of the local community. Special thanks go to the 6th Primary School of Alimos for hosting the event with such care and enthusiasm. The presence of Mayor Andreas Kondylis and Deputy Mayor of Primary Education & Youth Maria Xenou reinforced the importance of investing in youth development and        digital education.

Their continued support is a cornerstone of CityLab’s mission to provide opportunities for young people to explore, create, and thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Looking Ahead: Inspiring the Future

CityLab’s 6th STEM & Digital Skills Festival was more than an event—it was a movement. A movement fueled by creativity, collaboration, and a shared belief in the power of education. The festival reminded us all that when we empower young minds with tools and mentorship, we open doors to a brighter future.

To everyone who attended, participated, volunteered, or simply cheered from the sidelines—thank you. Your presence helped make this celebration not just successful, but unforgettable.

Here’s to continuing the journey, to nurturing curiosity, and to inspiring the next generation of thinkers, makers, and changemakers.
