This hands-on workshop in English is for beginners who have hardly coded before to code a complete, executable, non-trivial program in the Python programming language within 120 minutes. The followings will be covered:
- What is coding?
- How to get started?
- Essence of Python
- Reading data from Microsoft Excel
- Using artificial intelligence (AI) services via application programming interfaces (API)
- Processing image files
- Generating QR codes

A bit about me: my name is Chris and I have been working in the information technology (IT) industry for over 30 years around the world. I am currently located in Germany and have been conducting hands-on workshops during EU Code Week since 2019.

Een koppeling tussen thema’s uit de geschiedenis en aspecten van computational thinking. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werden berichten gecodeerd en gedecodeerd. De kinderen gaan ook aan de slag met het decoderen en coderen van binaire “boodschappen”. Dit moet natuurlijk zeer nauwkeurig gebeuren anders treden er fouten op. Als er fouten insluipen, moeten deze opgespoord en opgelost worden (debuggen). Terwijl kinderen met het coderen en decoderen van de boodschappen bezig zijn, leren zij tegelijk iets over de (plaatselijke) geschiedenis.
