The interactive online course teaches participants the easy-to-learn and easy-purpose programming language Python. She is one of the foundations of many Internet applications, such as YouTube or Dropbox. Special knowledge or special software isn't required. The participants can program directly in their own browser. Online registration is open under www.open.hpi.de/junior. Head of the openHPI course is Prof. Martin of Löwis, one of the developers of Python. The Berlin computer science researcher has previously worked as a lecturer at the Hasso Plattner Institute. He will convey the material in four weeks lessons. Short instructional videos provide the most relevant content. Per online quiz each user can then test whether he has understood everything. In practical exercises, students also learn to apply first simple programming commands and control, for example, figures on a playing field. In case of open questions, the users can enter the discussion forum and get helf in learning groups. Successful participants will receive a certificate of the renowned computer science institute. The openHPI online course is designed for students in secondary schools, but certainly also for teachers and those adults who want to get a taste of the fascinating world of software development. With the course for students the Hasso-Plattner-Institute seeks to inspire young people in particular for computer science and teach them the joy of developing software that can solve very different everyday problems efficiently.
