Lets unlock Braille code is an unplugged activity, engaging students at 10-11 age to unlock the Braille code and  enhancing their computational thinking and empathy as well. Braille is a system of touch reading and writing for blind persons in which raised dots represent the letters of the alphabet.  A basic Braille alphabet is constructed from six dots. These Braille dots are positioned like the figure six on a die, in a grid of two parallel vertical lines of three dots each. Students are going to unlock dots code and write on  paper grid words relevant to 10th (Reduced Inequalities) and 11th  (Sustainable Cities and Communities) Sustainable Development Goal targets .   The activity is going to take place on 21st  March 2022. At first place, students  work individual, trying to write in Braille system  Greek words. When they finish their first Braille word, they are going to exchange with each other’s paper and try to read  others Braille word. 

This activity has four main objectives: 1) Students will learn how to unlock Braille code,  2) students can write  their first words with Braille system, 3) Students will learn the importance of 10th and 11th  Sustainable Development Goal in order to build an inclusive and sustainable city,4) They will also be able to use this activity repeatedly to consolidate the topic in a funny way by adding more Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, students of other classes will be given the opportunity to learn/review the same topic in the future (as “ready-to-use” material).   This “learning-by-doing activity” can help students to raise their motivation and awareness in the learning process  and challenge them  to think deeply about how to select and organize the code steps into coherent structures and  construct their own pixel led cube.

Prior knowledge: students have a basic knowledge of  Sustainable Development Goals
