My activity is a combination of computational thinking and geometry. Computational thinking is programming in the free software Eassy Java SImulation. I am using Geometry to find the area of a cyrcle.
We are going to programming to JAVA (EJS) language (not in JAVA Script) the calculation of the cyrcle's area and in the same time the drawing of the cyrcle.
THE RESULT IS A MODEL THAT WE CAN USING IT TO STEM methodology.
THE ACTIVITY:
AT FIRST WE HAVE TO INSTALL THE FREE SOFTWARE EJS
At second hand we choose from the console of EJS software the language of JAVA.
Because I can not present my work in this poor space I suggest to visit my blogspot in the link:
http://sv1ahh1.blogspot.com/2018/05/easy-java-simulation.html
CHOOSE YOUR LANGUAGE ON THE TOP OF THE ARTICLE.
This work is an example of building a simulation model in Easy Java Simulation is presented. In this example the area of the circle is calculated to the nearest two decimal places using as a given the radius which is varied by a linear regulator "latch".
The circle fluctuates according to the radius adjustment.
CAUTION !!! To run the executable JAR file on the computer we need to install Java Runtime Enviroment (JRE) from:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html
Depending on the operating system we have on our computer, we select the appropriate file.
For 32 Bit we choose 86.
For 64 Bit we choose 64.
To be able to download the file we need to check accept at the top of the table.
For 64 BIT (JRE) from:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/server-jre8-downloads-2133154.html
We follow the following procedure to develop the simulation model.
We must pay attention to the data we write in the panels.
After completing the completion of all panels in the view, close the preview at the bottom left. Our model runs from the Play (green button) right on the vertical toolbar. The model is saved in the source (which we have initially defined) from the disk icon.
We believe there will be no difficulty in developing this example.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH

eu#codeweek activity /Coding@Christmas competition
Students completed secret coding pictures related to Christmas. More specifically, they followed the directions provided in numbers and arrows in order to complete the images of a Christmas tree and a red-nose reindeer. Students practiced using directions and coordinated and drew the coding pictures as part of an activity related to Coding@Christmas and participation in the coding Christmas competition.
