Nowadays, programming is an essential skill that children need for improving their creativity, cooperation, and communication. By using coding, students can share their expertise across physical and geographical boundaries, not only by providing their products to others but also by collaborating with other children. Programming is the literacy of today and it can offer to children problem solving, teamwork, and analytical thinking. According to the European Commission final report about “ICT for Work: Digital Skills in the Workplace”, 90% of professional occupations nowadays require digital competences. Moreover, as the technology is the future, there is a high demand for jobs which need digital skills, it has been observed a talent shortage. This happens because the education system is slow to react to new demands. Have parents and teachers wondered that the whole interaction between humans and computers is behind programming? Do we know that a web app, a video game, or social media use code to communicate with us? Can our children be the next coding heroes? Cyberno provides a Programming Basics course of Cyber Science, where students will gain a foundational understanding for text-based programming. The course will help students learn programming using Block-Based Programming using the drag and drop block-based Microsoft MakeCode programming language. It will introduce students to the introductory concepts of coding through hands-on lessons.
