Nigel McKelvey MSC, BSc, PGCE, MICS is a lecturer at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) within the Computing Department specialising in secure programming, performance based programming as well as legal studies and ethics. Nigel is currently pursuing a doctorate in Education looking at the heuristic programming technologies adopted by CoderDojo. Nigel has chaired and co-chaired multiple events aimed at promoting technology and programming at both primary and post primary level. Nigel is also an advocate for CoderDojo. Nigel will be speaking to Crana College students about his life as a programmer and outlining the evolution of computing in recent times and how the next generation of developers will shape industry and life in general. ePortfolio Leadership Planning Meeting
School leadership (principal and assistant principal 1/Assessment Coordinator) will meet to discuss embedding the use of ePortfolios in the classroom. Class Dojo will be used by teachers and students to record AofL and AfL activities to enhance student motivation; promote self-assessment using digital tools; build home/school communciations and develop digital skills. A plan will be put in place for the Digital Learning Team to audit and procure the digital devices required to help put this target into action e.g. handheld android device for each class.
