Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland currently run online two youth groups. Cairde Club, is for children aged 8-12 years and Cairde Connect, is for teenagers aged 13-16 years. Both groups provide a range of activities for young people with dyspraxia to meet other neurodiverse young people and to form social connections in a safe and fun environment. Both clubs run for 4-6 weeks each term and are always oversubscribed, resulting in an ongoing waiting list. Following on the success of last year we would like to offer young people with Dyspraxia/DCD an opportunity to join the Cairde Coders Club which will run in a similar fashion to our other two clubs. Cairde Coders Club will have two facilitators, one a skilled coding teacher and one of our own facilitators with experience of dyspraxia. The Cairde Coders Club will be run online via Zoom and will enable children from all parts of the country, particularly those children in rural areas who would not otherwise have the opportunity, to learn how to code. We also work with refugees and other marginalised groups to offer services to children who would not have the financial means, no matter how small, to join in a fee paying club.
