Target group: Seashell Girl Guides Event: attend 2 coding workshops learning Scratch programming. The 1st workshop will introduce the basics of Scratch & allow exploration. Girls will plan the image design for their SDG #12 action tip & in the 2nd workshop they will build & code an animation using various Sprites (digital characters) and backgrounds. These SDG animations will be combined into an MP4 movie to be displayed in and possibly illuminated onto public buildings. Goals & content: activities designed to support familiarity & increasing fluency with computational creativity and computational thinking, while building on students' creativity. In particular, the activities encourage exploration of key computational thinking concepts (sequence, loops, events, operators, data) and key computational thinking practices (experimenting and iterating, testing and debugging). Special: exposes girls to coding and how accessible, achievable & fun it is. Guiding is about enabling & empowering girls to see what an impact they can have on their world. This will be the action project for their SDG 12 Responsible Consumerism badge - their SDG 12 hacks generated, animated & illuminated!
