Code City brings coding & computational thinking inside the classroom! A Code City lesson for elementary school students offered by IT-professionals and a STEAM training for their teachers provided by Fyxxi. Last spring 152 volunteering coaches brought the basics of coding and computational thinking into 160 classrooms from 75 schools in the city of Ghent. 3750 children aged 9 to 12 discovered how to program robots (Blue-bots) and got enthused about coding. This fall, in line with the EU Code Week, the teachers receive a STEAM training as well! They are getting a fun and practice-oriented Fyxxi workshop with tools, tips and tricks for STEAM activities in the classroom. We organise 15-20 workshops in october-november. In total 350-400 teachers will receive this Code City teacher training on STEAM. ------ Code City is a project by Digitaal.Talent@Gent (www.digitaaltalent.be) in cooperation with Digipolis Ghent (www.digipolis.gent) the City of Ghent (www.stad.gent) and Fyxxi (www.fyxxi.be).
