My name is Daniela Bunea and I am a teacher of English at a secondary school in Sibiu, Romania. During Code Week 2019 (5-20 October) students aged 11-19 in our school will research real-world scientific expeditions in teams and build educational video games using Scratch to teach others about the expeditions they will have chosen. They will plan out the different aspects of the game's design: main character, goal, enemies, the map and background setting. Game-theme: platform or "scroller"-style game. Students' curiosity about the world will be tapped into, which is a perfect way to encourage them to explore different kinds of texts so they can grow as readers and thinkers. Students will play each other's video games and provide feedback.
